- Dry Firewood: Firewood that is below 25% moisture content
- Firewood Logs and Rings: Loads volumes and weights vary from load to load depending on where we are extracting the logs from and length and shape of logs. Firewood and rings cutting/splitting/drying is the responsibility of the buyer. Please ask if you are unsure of what to expect.
- Cord: Imperial Measurement. Equivalent to 3.6m3
- Metric Cord: A Kiwi expression, when this term is used, 3m3 is being referred to.
- Small Cut: 250mm long and split into approx. 100mm x 50mm.
- Volume: Firewood is sold as a thrown measurement. Thrown to stacked measurements are approximately 1/3 difference.
Firewood is sold as a “thrown measure” unless specifically stated otherwise. This means that the quantity of wood is measured as if it was thrown into a container, and not as if it was stacked. Stacking it will reduce the volume by about a 1/3, with a further reduction if the wood is stacked tight or has square edges (such as sawmill offcuts)

There is many philosophies as to leaving firewood in the rain and sun to aid the drying process, We recommend our firewood to be stacked in a water proof shed with a dry floor and plenty of ventilation as soon as it is delivered.
Storing firewood under a plastic tarpaulin is not recommended
Rain Wet firewood is Firewood that has been seasoned and prepared for winter burning and has got wet by the rain. This moisture would typically take 5 to 10 days dry off back to its original condition when stacked in a breathable wood shed.
